In the wire mesh world there can be a lot of intimidating and confusing elements to the mesh itself. So, to help those who are not the every day wire mesh connoisseur like The Wire Cloth Man is, we created a list of some of the most frequently asked questions. If you still have any questions that were not answered down below please reach out. As our dedicated customer service representatives are ready and available to assist.

1. How do you determine the wire mesh count?

The answer is simple. Count the number of openings in the wire mesh within one lineal inch from the center of one wire to the center of the next wire. For example, if you are looking at an 8 x 8-mesh there should be 8 openings within one inch and the same in the other direction. This gives you the count of the wire mesh being 8 x 8 mesh.

2. What are the standard sizes of rolls of wire mesh?

Standard sizes of rolls of wire mesh are 36” x 100’, 48” x 100’ and 60” x 100’ for most alloys. Galvanized is available in 24” x 100’, 30” x 100’, 36” x 100’, 48” x 100’ and 60” x 100’. Special sizes are available upon request.

3. Can I have a different size roll other than the standard sizes?

Yes. Almost every type of wire mesh can be cut down to your desired size. WIRE CLOTH MAN is able to slit and cut your exact dimensions.

4. Can I cut the wire mesh myself?

It depends on the material you are ordering. Some materials can be cut by hand with a regular scissor while others require an automated industrial shear. Yes, WIRE CLOTH MAN does have all the tools required to cut any material to your desired size.

5. What is the difference between Welded and Woven mesh?

Welded wire mesh is a grid of wires that is held together by a resistance weld. While woven wire mesh is wires crossed over and under one another to create a grid. Think similarly to how a fabric cloth is made.

6. Do you have a minimum order amount?

WIRE CLOTH MAN does not have a minimum order quantity but does have a minimum order price. It is $175.

7. How do I receive a quote?

The way to receive a formal quote is by clicking the “request a quote” button, calling in, or emailing us.

8. How do I know what material to tell you to quote me?

What need the following: Alloy, mesh count, wire diameter (size of wire), piece size and quantity. Once we have the information WIRE CLOTH MAN would be happy to quote you.

9. Am I able to get a sample?

Yes. Samples are available upon request. Not every product is able to produce a sample piece, so please feel free to reach out and we will inform you if a sample is available.

10. How do you calculate the square footage of a piece?

Start by determining the length and width of the piece in feet. Then, take your length and multiply it by your width. This will determine the square feet of the piece.

11. Where are you located and how long have you been in business?

WIRE CLOTH MANufacturers was established in 1965. Our locations include Mine Hill New Jersey, Houston Texas, Largo Florida and Tulsa Oklahoma.

12. How does shipping work?

WIRE CLOTH MAN can ship material either through a common carrier, UPS or FedEx. Anything over 150 lbs. must ship via by common carrier.

13. What is a lift-gate?

A lift-gate is a lift system used to raise and lower objects from a tractor trailer. This is required when a customer does not have a safe way of lifting material off of a truck.

14. What is a crimp style in wire mesh?

All woven material has a crimp style associated with the wire. Most common is the plain weave but a double inter-crimp and lock crimp are available as well.

15. What is a blanket order?

A blanket order is a purchase order for a contracted period of time, such as 12 months. WIRE CLOTH MAN stocks the item you ordered and is shipped to you as needed. The benefit is you locked in your price and have material readily available without incurring 100% of cost at the time of ordering.

16. Can I show up and buy material?

WIRE CLOTH MAN is not a store front. Please contact us prior.

17. Can I pick up my order myself?

Yes. You can schedule a customer pick through your salesperson or if ordering online, select customer pick up when checking out.
